OLDHAM Rugby League Club are delighted to announce that they are once again all wired up for the start of the new season thanks to a 2011 sponsorship deal with AMP Wire of Chadderton.
Improved sponsorship deal in the ‘basket’
AMP Wire, one of Europe's most prolific suppliers of wire mesh products, backed Roughyeds for the first time in 2010. Club and company have now sealed a new deal in which AMP Wire will become even more involved over the next 12 months, sponsoring the dug-outs at the Whitebank Stadium, the team's goalkicker and another player of their choice, namely Oldham-born Danny Whitmore.
"We'll also be encouraging our staff to support the Roughyeds and we'll be using the Whitebank Stadium hospitality suite for staff meetings and other in-house get-togethers," said AMP Wire's managing director Pam Pelham.
Continued support ; ‘locker’ed’ in for another year
A member of the Oldham Business Leadership Group, Pam said AMP Wire's relationship with Roughyeds had grown and developed during the company's first year of partnership and she was more than happy to see AMP Wire getting behind the club again in 2011.
"This time last year," she added, "the club didn't even know if, or when, it was going to get its own ground. I know it was a bitter disappointment to lose in the Grand Final, but to finish second in the division and to qualify for the final were massive achievements in themselves given the position the club found itself in only a year ago.
"The security derived from having its own ground is bound to make a huge difference to the club and the squad in the coming season and I feel sure Tony Benson and the boys will be going flat out for automatic promotion this time.
"On a personal note I'm delighted to see a lot of Oldham-born players coming 'home' to play for Roughyeds and I think it’s also brilliant that the club seems to be developing a policy and a strategy built around youth."
Fantastic partners – a ‘wire mesh’ of objectives
Commenting on behalf of the club, commercial manager Rachael Marsters said AMP Wire and Pam had been "fantastic" partners in year one and the club was looking forward to another season of mutual benefit and understanding in 2011.
She added: "AMP Wire is more than a sponsor --- they have truly bought into the Roughyeds dream. We are delighted to continue our excellent relationship."
